A couple years ago, I visited the Brooklyn Art Museum. I walked from one room into another and the first thing I noticed was this rather large painting hanging on the wall. It was so sexy and stunning, I could not take my eyes off of it. The “sculptor” is actually the artist, John Koch. I don’t know who the model was. Like many great pieces of art, the work poses more questions than it answers.

The model was Ernest Ulmer,(1921-2012) a professor of piano at the Manhattan School of Music. I agree about the painting–unsettling, mysterious, erotically charged.
